Deep link - definition
A deep link is a link into a website to any page other than the home page.
Deep linking is important for many reasons among them:
- The diversity of inbound links to your site is a factor in determining your domain authority, hence importance to the search engine algorithms.
- External inbound links are more valuable to your readers when the link takes them to a page that specifically addresses their search term (typically not the home page) or anchor text.
A deep link can even go to a page that is not accessible via the site menu.
